Greyhound Awareness Day

Greyhound Awareness Day Success

The Greyhound Resuce West Of England hold four successful events a year at Stapeley Water Gardens and this time was no exception the (GRWE) held a very enjoyable and benficial day for Greyhound owners and non-Greyhound owners on Saturday 24th November at Stapeley Water Gardens.

The event started at 10am with Freya the Cheshire sponsor Greyhound entertaining the public, many activities went on through out the day including a Tombola to raise much needed funds to rehome these lovely Dogs. Some of the volunteers were in fancy dress including a Rabbit, Pixies and even the Greyhounds got in on the action with Danny the Lurcher as a four legged Pixie!

The day was a great success with many people learning  about how to look after and care for Greyhounds, much needed funds were raised but that was not the main aim, ''The total we made for the day was £722.50 but most importantly of all and the highlight of the day is when a greyhound gets a home, that is the icing on the cake for us and makes our efforts all worthwhile.'' Said Jill Stanley event organiser (GRWE). A total of Four Greyhounds have been promised a home by members of the public and hopfully more will follow from this event.
