How do I feed aquatic plants?

In most situations, aquatic plants will benefit from at least one seasonal feed. Submerged aquatics and floating plants attain most, or all of their nutrients from the water. Marginals and water lilies will, however also draw nutrients from the planting compost. The easiest way to feed plants without encouraging algae is to use an aquatic, slow release tablet feed which is pushed deep into the soil. Water lilies are hungry plants and so  need to be fed two times per year, once in April and again in July, they will produce more flowers and be healthier.
